New, Farm Hand Experience
This experience is for adults and children to learn how to look after a pet or farm animal.
Participants need to have a genuine interest in all aspects of working with animals and birds.
You will work alongside an experienced farm worker/animal carer and follow their instructions. Activities may vary according to the weather and time of year.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum of 2 people at an experience. Minimum age 10 years.

8.45 Feed and water our animals and birds
9.15 Clean yards and stables
10.15 Drink and biscuit
10.30 Handle our Guinea Pigs, Rabbits and Pygmy Goats
10.45 Groom Ponies and Donkeys
11.00 Guided walk around our animals
11.45 Handle an animal of your choice (from those you have worked with during the morning)
12.00 Explore the rest of Rays Farm at your leisure
These experiences are available during school holidays only. The cost is £50 per person (child or adult). Experiences must be booked and paid in advance. Suitable clothing and footwear must be worn.

If an experience is booked for a child, one adult entry to Rays Farm is included. Once the experience ends, you then have access to Rays Farm for the rest of the day.

Animal feeding is allowed at Rays Farm. Bags of specially formulated feed may be purchased and fed to many of our amazing animals.
We have regular visits from Chelmarsh Static Owl display, with a full Parliment of Owls, from tiny Scops Owls to stunning European Eagle Owls. Questions are always welcome. This display takes place in our school barn.
Den building is a daily activity. In Fairytale Forest there is dedicated area, with supplies, to build your very own, unique shelter. Alongside the den building are the scramble nets and climbing ropes – a challenge for older children – or adults!
